A galvanic isolator stops galvanic corrosion by blocking low-voltage DC currents from the shore power earth wire entering your boat. These currents can damage underwater metals like the hull, propeller, and shaft. It has two diodes connected in opposite directions and is placed between the shore earth and the boat’s main earth point.
The advantage of the Cristec Galvanic Isolators is that they’re small and light. Unlike a galvanic isolation transformer, which fully isolates live, neutral, and ground wires, the galvanic isolator does not stop corrosion caused by currents on the neutral line, particularly when the neutral line is grounded by onboard electrical components.
Not suited for use in the USA.
