Advance Yacht Systems & Remoran Partner with Golden Globe Race 2026 Skipper
Advance Yacht Systems, the UK and Ireland’s exclusive distributor of Remoran hydrogenerators, is proud to announce a new partnership with Finnish manufacturer Remoran Oy and Golden Globe Race 2026 skipper Gunnar Christensen.
As part of this collaboration, Christensen’s yacht will be equipped with the Remoran Wave 3GS hydrogenerator, a renewable power solution designed for long-distance sailing. Capable of producing up to 300W of clean energy while under sail, the Wave 3GS will provide Gunnar with reliable, emission-free power throughout his solo circumnavigation.
The Golden Globe Race, renowned as one of the toughest sailing challenges in the world, requires skippers to sail solo, non-stop, and without modern GPS navigation. For Christensen, self-sufficiency and energy independence will be critical to success. The Remoran Wave 3GS offers a practical and sustainable answer, supplying continuous energy day and night, in cloudy conditions, and when sailing downwind – advantages that solar panels and wind turbines alone cannot always deliver.
Rob Cotterill, Managing Director of Advance Yacht Systems, commented:
“We are delighted to support Gunnar in his Golden Globe Race campaign. The Wave 3GS is an ideal fit for sailors tackling extreme challenges, offering dependable renewable power with minimal drag and robust design. We’re excited to see it play a key role in keeping his yacht powered around the world.”
Gunnar Christensen added: “Energy reliability is one of the biggest challenges for any sailor attempting the Golden Globe Race. I need equipment that I can trust in the most demanding conditions. The Remoran Wave 3GS gives me the confidence that I’ll have a steady supply of green energy to power essential systems throughout my voyage.”
The Remoran Wave 3GS hydrogenerator is supplied as a comprehensive package including the outboard unit, charger, cables, mounting rail, and accessories, ensuring sailors have everything they need for straightforward installation and reliable operation.
This partnership underscores both Advance Yacht Systems’ and Remoran’s commitment to sustainable marine energy solutions that empower sailors to go further, cleaner, and with greater independence.
